The spectacular scenery is the reason Wells Gray Park is a "must see" on your trip through BC. It is known as the waterfall park as there are over 250 waterfalls located in the area. The most impressive is Helmcken Falls, at 141 metres it is the fourth highest in Canada.

However, there is a lot more to Wells Gray Park than magnificent scenery - extinct volcanoes, lava rock formations, alpine meadows, lush forest, and the free-flowing Clearwater River to name a few. Following are potential itineraries lasting from a short 1/2 hour to a few days stay in Clearwater, BC and Wells Gray Country.

A visit to Spahats Falls allows you to get a taste of the beauty that Wells Gray Country offers its visitors. Spahats is noted not only for its impressive waterfall but beautiful gorge where you can see the layers of lava rock.

If you arrive in Clearwater later in the afternoon there is still enough time to visit 3 impressive waterfalls - Helmcken, Spahats and Dawson. In summer (July & August) it is usually light until after 8:00pm. Or relax in the evening and take a visit the park in the morning before heading off to your next destination.

Same as the dash only at a slower pace so that you can view more of the beauty of Wells Gray Park. Add in a short hike to Ray's farm & the mineral springs or if you are here in September/ October see the Salmon jumping at Bailey's Chute. Information about your hosts

Hi and welcome to the the Clearwater Valley Resort. My husband Bart and I bought the resort three year ago. We fell in love with the area and the beautiful trees on the property. I am still amazed at the beauty of Wells Gray Park. I'm originally from Calgary and I thought I knew Western Canada well. It turns out that Wells Gray Country is a well kept secret from Canadians. Most Europeans are aware of the area but not Canadians. Since we have moved here, my family and friends have visited. They cannot believe they had not visited this amazing area before.

Most of our staff are long term Clearwater residents who have been telling us the secrets of the area. There are First Nation ceremonial grounds, great fishing and super hikes. If you want to know the good fishing holes ask Sheri, our restaurant manager. We are really excited about living in Clearwater and ..

We hope to see you on your trip through British Columbia.

I have traveled staying at some of the most expensive places in the world and the cheapest but mostly I remember the places where I felt welcomed. I hope you will always feel welcomed at the Clearwater Valley Resort.
