Camp Information

Located in Northern Labrador, 58 air miles northeast of Happy Valley - Goose Bay (Latitude: 54° 4' 60 N / Longitude: 59° 0' 0 W), Double Mer Fishing Camp offers the ultimate in fishing variety. Situated at the head of Double Mer Lake, a long sound off the eastern coast of Labrador just above the 54th parallel, the camp gives immediate access to the Double Mer River, one of Labrador's most picturesque salmon streams.

The first salmon pools are less than two miles upstream. Two other rivers are accessible via a twenty minute ride by boat. The Partridge River is a salmon stream and Cooper's Brook, with is numerous rapids, boasts some terrific speckled trout fishing. The Double Mer and Partridge Rivers are government designated salmon streams and as such, are restricted to fly fishing only. However, you may fish the estuaries for sea-run brook trout or char, as well as Cooper's Brook, with spinning gear.

While the top prize remains the Atlantic salmon, speckled trout are found almost everywhere. They are big and numerous. Silvery sea-run brook trout run even larger and can provide some real fast action. You may often catch those just off the camp dock. Arctic char offer an additional bonus beginning the middle of the season when their spawning run reaches its peak. Considering the size and abundance of all those species, Double Mer Fishing Camp offers some of the most spectacular, uncrowded and diversified fishing to be found anywhere in Labrador.

Caribou

Labrador is home to the largest caribou herd in all of the world. The George River Herd animals number in the hundreds of thousands. Each year many hunters enjoy the thrill of successfully bagging a prize animal sporting an impressive antler rack. Each hunter is permitted to bag two animals of either sex. Due to export restrictions across borders, you may not be able to take the meat home with you. However, we would be pleased to cook you up a nice steak or roast.

Moose

Moose in Labrador are large! Free ranging and with its only predator being the wolf, it takes a skilled hunter to bag one of these beauties. Double Mer Fish Camp is proud to offer the option to hunt moose.

Bear

Black Bears are abundant here in Labrador, feeding off berries and small animals. Double Mer Fish Camp is proud to offer the option to hunt bear.
