Archie Belaney ( known as Grey Owl ) was an unhappy English lad who, in the early 1900's, dreamt of becoming an Indian and joining the faraway wilderness society of Indians in the Canadian forests of Temagami. He wrote : "The forest was my school, my studies were plant and tree life, the ways of the animals and how to track them: how to catch fish at all times of the year, and most important, how to make a fire in any kind of weather, in rain, wind, or snow." We invite you to discover why Grey Owl chose Temagami as his school and we invite you to follow in his footsteps.
