Fishing French River Owls Nest Lodge Northern Ontario Fishing, Hunting, ATV & Snowmobiling Lodge on Trout Lake in the French River Resort Area We are located on the south shore of of the unspoiled Trout Lake with facilities designed to offer a year-round escape to experience the beauty of Rainbow Country. Trout Lake is sixteen miles long and half a mile wide and is located eighteen kilometers from the village of Alban. The clean pollution-free water is noted for lake trout, pike, muskie, walleye (pickerel), small & large mouth bass and many varieties of pan fish. LODGE A licensed restaurant is located in the lodge and is open from mid September to Mid May. We have a pay phone in the lounge area, a store stocked with bread, milk, eggs, canned goods, selected meats, pop, cigarettes, ice blocks & cubes and most items to meet your vacation needs year round. All cabins have screened porches, electric refrigerators and hot plates, all cooking utensils, individual gas barbeques for each unit, blankets, pillows and the majority have two-piece bathrooms. You need only to bring your towels and personal items. For your added convenience, there is a centrally heated shower and washrooms. An excellent sand beach fronts the property with a swimming area marked off for the children's safety and your peace of mind. THINGS TO BRING
Fishing, Hunting, ATV & Snowmobiling Lodge on Trout Lake in the French River Resort Area FISHING Trout Lake is known for its lake trout, pike, muskie, walleye (pickerel), large & small mouth bass and pan fish galore! Bait is stocked at the lodge at current prices. BOAT & MOTORS For rental, we have 14-foot boats with swivel seats equipped with 15HP motors. We also have an 18 foot bass buggy/pontoon boat for rent. Life preservers & safety kits included. We also have our own boat launch for guests with their own boats. Gas and oil are available at our dock. HUNTING The miles of Crown Land surrounding the lodge are popular hunting areas for moose, deer, ducks, rabbits and partridge. Bear hunts are being booked from September 1st until mid October. A wide area is pre baited and has an excellent showing of very active bait sites. Bears range in size from 100lbs. to 500lbs. We presently have bait areas that are accessible by truck, walking or A.T.V. Our guides are: Marty Quinn, Chuck Sliker, Craig Lemon and Rich Saul. The Trout Lake area is ideal for snowmobiling and ice fishing. The road to the lodge is well maintained during the winter. We are on OFSC trail # FD703 with connections to main routes C109 & C106. ATV Lodge on Trout Lake in the French River Resort Area Ontario Fishing & Hunting Lodge on Trout Lake in the French River Resort Area OUR LOCATION From the south: Hwy 400 and 69 through Barrie, Parry Sound tot he French River. Twelve kilometers north of the French River turn right on to Hwy 64 for three kilometers to Alban. Turn in Alban at Delamere Road (at the Castle Building supply store) and follow the signs to the lodge. From the north: Proceed south from Sudbury on Hwy 69 and turn left at Hwy 64 Alban. During July and August reservations are booked on a weekly basis from Saturday to Saturday. Fishing - Trout Lake is known for its lake trout, pike, muskie, walleye, small and large mouth bass. We have 14' boats, motors and canoes available for rent. Gas, oil and bait are also available. We also have a boat ramp if you bring your own boat. Camping - Trailer and tenting sites are available by the day & week. Sites are located close to the central heated washrooms and showers. Most sites have electric and water hook-ups. A trailer dumping station is also available. Snowmobiling - We generally receive tons of snow here in the near north, and as such the snowmobiling conditions are excellent. We are located near the main trails and have easy access to them. There is ample room for parking your vehicle and trailers. Gas and oil are available. Main Lodge - After a long day on the water, or the trails you can come back to the Lodge to relax. Light meals are available and we are licensed to serve your favorite beverages, from Mid September to Mid May. Swimming - An excellent sand beach fronts the property with a swimming area marked of for the children's safety and your peace of mind. Free paddle boats, kids canoe & wind surfer and swim raft with slide. While you are here you may be fortunate to see some of our wildlife. Such as bear, moose, deer, beaver, otter and numerous birds such as the osprey, cranes, loons etc. Mid August is the perfect time for berry picking (wild blueberries and wild raspberries). Sudbury is a 45 minute drive from Owls Nest - Nickel Capital of the World, Science North, Dynamic Earth, Theaters, Airport.
